No pictures today, but I did work. I made 4 pages for a fabric book. I intend to put pictures of family members in costumes, in the book. My grandfather had a picture of himself taken, wearing a cowboy outfit. It is so charming, I want to share it. It was taken before 1917, when he got married. It may take a few days to locate the other pictures I want to include, and get a new color cartridge for my printer. But I'll post it asap.

For a special request I am posting the necklaces. I hope the lengths are visible. Three of them are made of freshwater pearls, seed beads, and Swarovski crystals, with natural stone beads. The longer ones are fused glass pendants, with seed beads.

These are 2 large bags, new today. They are quite a bit bigger than the rest. Numbers 226, 227. You should see the colors in person, much better.

The new show at Two Twelve Arts in Saline, is wonderful. Keith McGuire and Ann Shiel are the artists. I highly recommend you see it. The opening is Sep. 11, from 7 to 9 pm. Keiths' watercolors are fabulous, and masterful. And the presentation of his art is so beautifully done. (I bought a small one , love it!) And Anns' fanciful constructions are delightful. She has made books, with ethereal, gossamer pages, which are irresistible to leaf through. And her boxes of fantasy history are the best collections of epherema I've seen. I am taking everyone I can catch, to see this one. Treat yourself.

My lovely and talented daughter Jen, made these bracelets.
Five purse fronts. I will count these when the purses are made. They are pieced and quilted, then embroidered.
The tablerunner is quilted. It looks nice, I may keep it.

A tablerunner, with Cardinals on the ends. Number 221. Can you see the glitter in the ivory?
Two Crows, number 220.

My granddaughter, Mary, made this. I will quilt it for her.

I am trying red centers. I think I'll quilt in red thread, to look like veining.

We begin the weekend with a toast. We shopped our way to Harrisville, with stops at Fabric Fair in Bay City, Ben Franklin in East Tawas, Sunshine Quilt Shop in Oscoda, and a side trip to Hollyhock Quilt Shop in Harrisville. We made a difference everywhere we went. Then we worked until the wee hours every night.

We started with painting, then quilted, then mosaiced. Our new members were inducted into the Mosaickians tribe. Then we made dolls, that began as self portraits, but morphed into ???

Babe was a newbie this time. I think she really liked the trip. She never stopped smiling, and even chose our new group song, "We're here, because we're here, because we're here, because we're here..."
She made a painting for the Earth Challenge, a doll, two mosaics, a quilt, and spread infectious enthusiasm.

Deb did it all. She made a mosaic, a doll, and a quilt, as well as painting a picture.

Kathie was a new addition to our group for the weekend. She worked on the beautiful art quilt, painted an Earth Challenge picture, made a mosaic mirror, and a doll.

Nan worked on her exquisite cross stitch, and made jewelry to wear to a wedding, as well as painted an Earth Challenge picture, and made a mosaic mirror.
This is what I did on my summer vacation. None of these are counted yet.

Goodbye from the Baguettes of the North. We got little sleep, lots of laughs, much work done, many stash additions, and want to do it again.

I know this isn't fun for you, but please be patient. I have spent a few days packing for an artists' getaway weekend. I am going with the Baguettes, to an all art, all day and all night, all media extravaganza. We will paint pictures, embroider and embellish little quilts, mosaic mirror frames, and make self portrait dolls. In between, we will walk the beach, swim, forage in the woods, run out to the local quilt shop and variety store for supplies, eat smores, see a stained glass show, and talk, a lot. On the way, we will go to a bead store, Fabric Fair in Bay City, Ben Franklin, and who knows what.
I have packed fabric for 9 quilt tops, in case I have free time. You will definitely see some new stuff soon. In the meantime, talk amongst yourselves.
