This is another one of those days. I went downstairs to get gel medium, and made a rooster while I was there. This is why I am still disorganized. It makes me very productive, but a bunch of new stuff to finish takes a lot of time. Making the picture is the fun part. Grouting and putting on hangers is work. I'm really into fun.
Number 202. We'll see if I get the yellow chicks, bluebird, trivet and rooster grouted before Summerfest.

A mirror mosaic. This will not be grouted. The glue dries clear, and the black frame shows between. It will be a class at TwoTwelve Arts. Number 201.

This is a picture with white coneflowers. I wanted to make gourds, but needed flowers with them. The fabrics just grabbed me, and said Autumn. Number 200.

I keep trying to get ready for the classes I'm teaching at QU this Sunday. But things get in my way. I went downstairs to get paint. First I put hangers on about 12 mosaics. Then I put on price tags. Then I went down to get paints, but made these 2 new mosaics because I walked past the workbench. I have made lists, and started piles for the classes, and for my Summerfest booth. Now my feet hurt, and my back, and I still am not packed. I remembered to get the paint this time. Now I have to go up and get my samples. Numbers 198,199.

This was number 162, and now it's finished. I quilted it last night, and bound it before breakfast. It's already sold, to my neighbor.

This funny guy is a Barrel Fish. He gets his name from the road construction barrels all over the local streets. Number 197.

A few new banners. I'm not sure I like them, so I need some feedback. Yea? or Nay? Numbers 191-196.

Saturday, July 25, 2009

The glue is still wet on this one, number 190. Mom bird feeds baby bird a worm. I'm thinking sand color grout.
I have counted Blackbird Sing twice. It's really only 189 so far. If you see another miscount, let me know.
The flower cards.
It may not look like it took 2 days to make these cards, but it did. My daughter Karen did long distance editing for me, and a computer tutorial.

The fish cards.
I guess I can count this as 1 item made. I did make all the quilts, and count them. But it took 2 days to make 12 card designs, so this will be number 189.

No new pictures yet! I have been making other things. Today I took pictures of 6 flower quilts, and 6 fish quilts. They will be made into greeting cards, to sell at the Summerfest., on Aug. 7 evening, and all day Saturday. Aug. 8. I promise to make something and take a picture very soon. For now, see what fun I had with my sister. We went to St. Joseph, Michigan yesterday.

I made banners today, but they are not done yet. Will post soon.

Blackbird Sing, this was 160.

The Aviary at Midnight, number 188.
Trefoil with Red Daisies, number 187.

Funny Face Fish, number 186. I was thinking of watching cartoons when I was a kid, while making this.

Three Pink Flowers. Finished today, number 185.

What I did on my summer vacation... I made banners. My granddaughter Mary drew birds for me, and I used her suggestions to make mine. Numbers 171 to 184.

These are for the Saline Summerfest show, Aug. 7+8.

Finches on Lemon Tree, number 170. I think it has a Japanese look.
I hope this holds you for a few days. I'll be busy with 6 grandkids for a while.
Mexican Sunflowers, number 169. Silk pleated centers give this quilt a 3D look.

Fancy Fish, number 168. This will get some fishing line on the bobber.
You saw this one before it had a border. Now it's done.
Three Goldfish.

Lilypond with Heron. Number 167. The heron now has an eye, but the picture was taken before it appeared.

Vase of Peonies. Number 166.
The tent! for Summerfest! It works! And it's easy to do, thank my lucky stars and a good designer. And those are 6 of the grid walls in it. I have eight, maybe I need more. By the time I am all set up, I'll need a nap, and a shower. Remember August 7 and 8. Friday evening, and Saturday all day. Yahoo!

A Bowl of Roses, ready for a hanging sleeve. It's about 21" by 24. Number 165.

Saturday, July 11, 2009

This one is best on the front. But the back looks kind of cool too. Number 164.

The back and front of Three Vases. Now that it's quilted, I almost like the back better. Click on it, take a close look.

This piece was made for a challenge at Two Twelve Arts. The phrase on it was to be rendered in a piece of art. It's about 14" by 18". Number 163.

Number 162, a tall sunflower. It's about 18" by 42".

Thursday, July 9, 2009

This is number 161, Three Vases. It's about 18" by 21". The rich colors make it a favorite of mine. Think I'll quilt this one next.

Wednesday, July 8, 2009

Number 160. "Blackbird singing in the dead of night...", song by the Beatles, inspired this quilt, and an article in Quilting Arts, which I was enjoying the same day. I had been cutting dead branches off some trees, and sat under a canopy of leaves, humming the blackbird song. And I was picturing my grandkids having fairy tea parties, sitting in the little woodland cubbyhole I trimmed for them.
