Update on my weaving. This is picture 2, taken after 2 more hours of weaving. So far I've done 4 hours. It's about 5" long.

Two large bags, making a rainbow of felt, to take with me, along with an inspiration picture. I panic if I have no handwork, so I am prepared for a car ride. Along with a suitcase of embroidery floss, and my sewing scissors, and a shoebox of crayons to do texture rubbings in the woods. And some paint to show up the wax resist of the rubbings. And some paper. I might need some clothes...

This is the third August banner, just done.

Just finished the August banners.

These are silk bracelets, waiting for beads etc.
I started this weaving last night. This is going to take a while, I worked about 2 hours already.

This was my winner in the Celtic Festival Limerick Challenge. It's one of my least favorites, but there's no accounting for taste.
In Saline I sat writing a Limerick,
Neither potions, a wand, or my broomstick,
Could find me a word that appeared less absurd,
So I finally ended with Fiddlestick.

This is my entry for the 2008 Michigan Quilt Artists Invitational show. I hope they accept it, it's a week late. 20" by 24"

I did make a baby quilt, and dolly quilt this week. But I forgot to take a picture of them before delivery. So, count 2 more things. And I wrapped flip flops with black sparkle fun fur too, to send to Karen.

This is the same silk bordered square I posted about 10 days ago. I stitched it until it squealed. I may add a bit more, and may not.

This is not really a blurry picture, it's a wiggle picture. The kind that changes when you tilt it. I got the birthday card, and cut it and put cardstock on the back, added a ribbon and beads. It's for Karen to hang in her apt., to remind her of Hawaii. It will blow in the wind, and hula.

This is a fabric book page, for the Running With Scissors round robin group. It's 5" by 7".

Sunday, July 20, 2008

This is about 6" by 9". It started out having a yellow and green goddess on it, but she got ripped off, upon advice from my critic. It was a fun and therapeutic way to play with some stitches.

I really have been busy, making a baby quilt for a client, and going to parties. Three in 2 days.

I did a lot of stitching on this since I posted it last. Not sure if it's done, but I think so.

Green silk, wool felt, silk thread, yarn. I will do a lot of hand stitching on this piece. It's 10 by 12 inches.

Sewing machine works fine.

Buddy had another big adventure today. Since he's blind, he runs away less often. As a result we've gotten a bit too casual with letting him out in his little yard. And since he can't see, he sometimes walks right through the small fence around his yard, while trying to find the house. Sometimes we let him out loose in the yard to pee. Usually we put a rope on him (dope on a rope we call him). He always comes right back in. Today Rick opened the door for him, and sat down in the recliner. Buddy did his stuff, and laid down on the rug outside to bask in the sun.
Rick forgot he was out there, and after I hadn't seen him in an hour, and he didn't come running when I opened the front door, I asked where he was. Oops! He was out exploring the neighborhood. I ran out and called him, Rick did too. We hollered we had a treat for him.
Rick got in the car to drive around the block looking. We asked a neighbor if she'd seen him on the far end of the sub. All the way around the block we looked. He's so little, it would be easy to not see him. Then, as we got in front of the house next door I saw 2 guys trying to entice him to some water. He didn't see them, so was stumbling around, panting. When I got him, he was so hot, I know he'd been sunning and running for too long. So we gave him treats in a dish of water, and his dinner, which was 1/2 hour late. Apparently we don't walk him enough for the neighbor 2 doors down to recognize him. Or he looks different naked, (no harness). Now we feel like we should be scolded (Bad Owner! Bad!) and sent to bed.
I have news. I am the proud winner of the Saline Celtic Festival Limerick Challenge. I have a gift card for Borders, and am ready to run over there and use it. When I find out which limerick won, I'll post it for you.
And I picked up my sewing machine. It's all better. It had lost a screw ( Rick has been telling me I have screw loose), which is now replaced. And it's clean. Watch this space.

The color scheme was suggested by a mosaic my sister made, copying one of my flower quilts!

Sunday, July 13, 2008

A little more stitching has been done since the last picture of this. I was inspired by a friends' stitch card.
Painted floorcloth, and flip side, for my sister to play dice on.

A landscape, from my squarish period.

This is the art quilt I started before taking my machine in for fixing. All the construction was done on the machine. I worked on it today doing hand stitches, and added the charms. It'll get a lot more stitches before I'm done.

Not bad on a borrowed machine. This one is nearly all silk fabrics.

These are my imaginary creatures, for the July ATC trade. They are made of felt, with sequins.

These flowers will have to do for now, I get my sewing machine back next Monday. In the meantime, I'm enjoying Ricks' flowers, and sharing them with you. They are buttercups, hollyhocks, nicotiana, daisies, and butterflyweed.

Eek! Sewing machine broken! Must go back to caveman ways, sew by hand again. Slow process. Fortunately, I made a shrine quilt background to work on before it broke. See you in several days.

A bracelet, made of silk, with bead embellishments. This will be a class in the Fall.
