Hope you all recover from your upcoming turkey stupor, and get back to making stuff. I am off to my sisters', to play for a few days. I hope to have a few things to show from the trip. Next weekend the Two Twelve Arts Holiday sale starts. There will be a lot for sale that I can't resist, and I'm sure stuff you want too. See you there?

These are hanging totems. They are made of felt, inspired by a photo of glass totems on a stick. I don't know why.

A red flower, the 35th sunflower. It's in a shadowbox frame, with glass, hence the crooked pic. Number 288.

I finished this scarf. It took a long time, because it was tedious. The yarn does not slide off the needles easily, it was sticking to the plastic needles. But it looks good. Number 287.

More Santos! We had a good time painting saints. Of course, I did the Lady of Guadalupe again. This time I did it freehand. Karen did St. Barbara.

Two sides of a flying felt fish. Number 285.

Today was Santos painting day. Karen and I painted these, little saints of New Mexico. The bottom 2 are mine. This is 284, not counting the secret felt things.

A new sunflower, number 34 in the quilt series. It is 12" square, as always. And the count is 282.

These 4 new stockings bring the total to 281 things made this year.

I have sewn the hangers on 10 little quilts, and 2 banners. I started knitting the next sample for Knit a Felt Bag class, quite different this time. My granddaughter Madeline and I made Christmas cards today. And my camera batteries are charging.

I don't want you to think I made 9 quilts yesterday. I only pieced backs for them The tops were made, and in the closet, waiting. And I decided it isn't fair to count the 30 hangers separately, so they will be one, number 268. And the 9 quilt backs bring me up to 277. So that's the official count as of now.
I pieced the back of 3 more quilts. Only took 8 to be quilted today.

Friday, November 14, 2008

Today I pieced the backs for 6 quilts. One of them is bed size, the rest are lap size. These are going to be quilted before Christmas, and I hope to sell a couple of them.

I haven't been sitting on my hands. I made a wire jig, and I made 30 hangers today. If I count each one, I'm up to 297. Is that fair? They get sewn to the back of my sunflower quilts. I also cleaned the dining room, so my peeps can sit at the table tomorrow. But that was a horror story.

This is what it looks like on the quilt.

The white was a mistake. So, I added crazy circles and stitches all over. Don't know if it helps. This is 265.

Can you tell the difference? I added the fringe, and it looks better, a little more wild and wooly.

This is the very simple memory wire bracelet I made for my sister a couple weeks ago. It was counted already, as number256.

Sunday, November 9, 2008

Today I worked on this scarf, and made 2 more scarf kits. This will get fringe on it. And I did 3 hours work on a felt applique piece, which is not finished yet. This is 264.

The flower bag. Holly bought a sweater and felted it. She gave it to me, and I bagged it. It was too stiff to make into mittens. This is 263.
Inside the flower bag, it has a lining and pockets.

This is number 262. It says Les Cinq Petit Poissons, The Five Little Fishes. I have a few more to go.

Wednesday, November 5, 2008

This is number 261. The center panel was made in March, but not posted. Finishing it has been so much work, and I have several more to do. It will hang from a flat rod. This is made of old wool sweaters, and new wool, blend, and synthetic felt. All the stitching is done by hand. I think of it as Mexican/ Hungarian style.

These are 9 inch circles. They will hang from the ceiling at 212 during my show, spinning in the breeze. I hope to get about 10 done. This is numbers 257 to 260.

This is the coat rack/display post for my felt handbags. I'm not counting it, since my brother in law built it, and my husband finished it, and put on the hooks. I was the director of the project.

Sunday, November 2, 2008

I am very busy working, but not ready to post pictures. Remember the felt circles I stitched all over? I'm finishing them into wallhangings, with padded backing. There is a lot of hand stitching involved. I'll post one when it's done. There are 7 or 8 to do. This is preparing for my stint as Featured Artist at 212 Arts, starting January 9th, to the end of February.
I'm also working on a display stand for my knit felt handbags, and will post that soon, too. And I have decided on a hanging system for my Sunflower Quilts, and am working on that. Sorry, I hope you're not bored.
