I made a beaded bracelet today, but forgot to take a picture before I mailed it. I will ask my sister to take one. This is number 256.

Wednesday, October 29, 2008

A face mosaic I started today. There are a lot of beads on this one, and a lot of tiny glass bits too.

Tuesday, October 28, 2008

A new t shirt quilt, finished today. This is 255.

This is 254 items made this year, and posted. A few were given away before I remembered to post, so we won't count them. This is the first hat I made from this tapestry style yarn. I used the remains to make the hat below, experimenting.

Monday, October 27, 2008

Apparently, you're supposed to taper the hat gradually.

Sunday, October 26, 2008

This is a banner for Beckie. We went there today and carved pumpkins with the kids.

Saturday, October 25, 2008

This is my hat for the Games night party tonight. Like the teeth?

Friday, October 24, 2008

The face with a colorwash background. I did try to keep it one color. But I have all these paints...

Step 3: The face, gessoed. I ran out of gesso, and sealed the rest with gel medium.

Next step is a colorwash background. Then I'll do a transfer with water soluble oil pastels. Then maybe some collaging.

Thursday, October 23, 2008

Felt balls, the first ones I've made. I took a small ball of yarn, and made a blanket of fleece to wrap it. Then I stuck the ball into a knee hi stocking, and tied between each one. Then I washed in hot water, and voila! This is 251.

Wednesday, October 22, 2008

Sunflower at midnight, just finished. This is the 33rd sunflower, and the 250th thing I made this year.

I tarted up the latest bag. Isn't this cute? And I turned it so the dreadlocks show.

Tuesday, October 21, 2008

This is scarf 5, and is number 249. I lost count casting on, and I think this is about 10 stitches shorter than the other ones. It does not have fringe, but may get it.

Monday, October 20, 2008

The latest bag, it's bigger than usual. I cast on 105 stitches, it made a small tote bag.

Poki, grouted. I used toasted almond grout. Still on number 247.

Sunday, October 19, 2008

This is step 2, layered and machine quilted. It isn't the best picture, but it shows the quilting best. I want a lot of texture. I guess I have to think about this for a while, I don't know how to start the painting. Maybe just smear on gesso? I am on number 247 still.

The sunflower mosaic, grouted. I used a color called Copper Beech. This is 12" square.

This is Poki, King Kamehameha's dog, and my daughters'. See him flying? Needs to be grouted yet.
Sorry, I forgot to take a picture of the latest felt purse. I already sent it off to be at the Washtenaw Arts Alliance meeting, as table decor. I'll try to remember when I get it back. Number 247.

Saturday, October 18, 2008

This is step one of a self portrait mixed media event. The canvas is about 30" by 36". I have hand stitched on it with a variety of fibers. My next step will be to layer with batting and machine quilt it. Then I plan to paint on it. That will be the real challenge for me. I intended to make an abstract, but a face appeared. This is 246.

Friday, October 17, 2008

A new scarf, the fourth one. This using up yarn bits is fun. Number 245.

Thursday, October 16, 2008

Sunflower on chocolate. This is number 244.

A white dog mosaic I started yesterday. He has flames all around.

Wednesday, October 15, 2008

A sunflower in glass this time! Must be grouted, of course.

Tuesday, October 14, 2008

This is the before and after pix of todays' new felt purse. It's still wet, and is being stretched now, with the Joy of Cooking stuffed inside. That's the best book! This is 241.

The redesigned stocking for class. This is a more efficient use of the fabric, and it will be much easier for beginners to sew. This is number 240.

Two more elf stockings are done. They just need hanger loops.

Monday, October 13, 2008

I made 9 more stocking fronts today. Sorry, no pictures. I'll post them when they're done, asap. And I made kits for 7 more. Had to redesign the stockings for class, to make the best use of my fabric.

Can you tell the difference? I did some cross stitches on the sides, because it was too light.

Sunday, October 12, 2008

An elf stocking, made for a class. number 237.

Saturday, October 11, 2008

I have worked most of the day on a tshirt quilt. No picture yet. I am realllly tired. Now I'll veg out and knit a purse while watching tv all night. We went out to lunch yesterday and today for our anniversary, and will celebrate again tomorrow.
We are married 39 years today. I was 17, he was 20. He gave me a card that says the millionth kiss is better than the first. I still like him.

Friday, October 10, 2008

Just out of the washer, a new Autumn colors felt purse. I made an emergency trip to get more Noro yarn for this. It's very soft, love that yarn after felting. This is 236.

Thursday, October 9, 2008

A new sunflower, from a new bunch of fabrics. I used sheers and a cool distressed lame. Still have to bind it.

This is the first view of a new project. I made the background from a purple fabric, layered with scraps of silk, netting, felt, threads, yarn, an onion bag, a potato bag, rickrack, ribbon, etc. Then I stitched it all over 1/4" apart. I layered it with thin batting and a back, and finished the edges. Then I stitched freehand to make a vine and flowers. It will get more, when I have time. This is 234.

Play Tag

I have been tagged, and have to tell 6 random things about me. Then, to tag 6 bloggers. I only know 3 who have not already been tagged, so that will do.

I'll bet you didn't know:
1. I have a need to prove myself, hence the incessant posting.
2. I am embarrassed I can't follow directions, it's a 5th child thing. So I rarely take classes. Just don't try to tell me what to do!
3.My mental self image is 27 years old, and size 12.
4. I like to eat plain food, the same things repeatedly.
5.I am so affected by colors that I cry when I see beautiful combinations.
6. I've been to 5 countries, and at least 30 states, but never Florida or California.

So, I am tagging Jean at www.ArtfulMoon.blogspot.com
and Connie at www.Glasscrazy.blogspot.com
and Leslie at www.redinthecity-chicagored.blogspot.com

The count is 233 items made this year.

Tuesday, October 7, 2008

Lazy day, I had a headache all day. So, I knitted a scarf. This one doesn't curl, it's all knit stitches.

Another view of the 30 sunflower quilts.

I laid all 30 sunflower quilts on the grass today. It's the first time I've seen them all together.

Monday, October 6, 2008

I made these last week, but have just finished the embroidery and sequins.

Sunday, October 5, 2008

I just got home from a class in Nuno felting. Michele Montour was the teacher. We had a great time. The scarf is silk, with wool fibers felted onto it. I think I'll do this again. This is 227.

This is number 226, blue felted bag. The heather yarn is wool and silk. It felts, but not as densely as wool. The button is mother of pearl.

Saturday, October 4, 2008

#225, Dragonfly bag, named for the glass button. This is made from a piece of fabric I made with a base fabric, many threads and fibers, bits of fabric, and netting, all sewn 1/4" apart. The handle is 5 strands of novelty yarns, sewn together. All done on the sewing machine, except sewing on the button.

This is #224, an art quilt featuring my moms' graduation picture. It's made of silk, with hand embroidery.

This is 223, almost dry green felt bag. I am still knitting a blue one.
I am finding it very hard to keep track of numbers. I tried counting up all the things I made this year, and posted, and found 222. The numbers of tote bags have confused me, since the fabrics are similar, I can't tell if they are all counted. The same trouble with glass pendants. But I will assume 222 is close. All the Atcs in a post are counted as one. So, it doesn't look like I'll reach 300 this year, unless I get really busy. I do have a few banners in the works, and a couple felt bags that are drying, to add soon. And I'm making a tshirt quilt and some stockings. Next year I'll try to enjoy all the making, and not shoot for numbers. Maybe. In any case as of today there are 222 officially.

This is a fresh Spaghetti book. I just made it. It has pages made of furniture ads, and plain paper. It has 3 signatures, each having about 10 pages. I mostly remembered how to stitch it.

Inside Spaghetti book.

The first 2 banners for November.
