I mixed the dyes, made the thickener, washed the fabric, soaked it in soda ash, hung it all to dry, (you should see my house!), loaded the texture stuff, packed mosaic stuff, borrowed cutting tools, and I am late for my haircut!

The Baguettes Art Group is staying at a lovely guesthouse for an art weekend. It's owned by Charlene and Taylor Jacobson, two artists. In these pictures it is set up for scrapbooking. But we'll do our own things. The setting is lovely, the house is too. Can you hear the excited rushing around, and packing and squealing coming from our directions?

I am counting the finished book, even though I did count the individual pages. Each step of making the book was a considerable amount of work, and assembly was also. Number 61. Now that's it's done, what should I do with it?

Last night I painted some fabric to make into pages of a fabric book. These will be backgrounds, with writing on them. Numbers 56-60.

Another palm tree. I made it with rectangles, and the background with triangles. Which one is better? Number 55.
We have 7 inches of new snow this morning. It's wet and heavy, sticks to the shovel, heart attack, kind of snow. We just came in from shoveling a small area in front of the garage. It will take 5 more times to do it all. But the snow is still coming down, so maybe more.

Palm Tree mosaic, number 54. Just made it.
My granddaughter Joanna made this one. Watch the mail on Thursday or Friday, kiddo.
My loyal blog follower, and granddaughter, Mary, made this. Your package is coming.
I did some grouting today. The count is now 53.

So far today, I have made a large pan of lasagna, and an apple pie. I learned to make pie at my mothers' side. My children called her Apple Gramma. She always peeled and sliced apples as we sat at the table, and fed them to my kids. I have added a few things to her recipe over time. I put in 1/4 cup of raisins, and a sprinkle of cardamom and nutmeg.
For my low fat, high fiber, low carb, lasagna sauce, I brown 8 sliced large mushrooms, a chopped onion, 3 cloves garlic, 2 lbs. ground round, Newmans' Own jar of organic sauce, and a spoonful of sugar. I add a shredded eggplant. It gives a nutty flavor, and lots of fiber. I use lowfat cottage cheese, (I know it's wrong!) in place of ricotta, with shredded Parmesan cheese, and parsley and fresh ground pepper mixed in. And lowfat mozzarella is the top layer. Usually there are only 3 layers of pasta, to keep the carbs low. It makes a large pan. We eat it twice, and I freeze it for 3 more meals at least.
I won't count this creative stuff, but I did make something.

Two views of a new book cover. It has a penguin tag, painted fabric, and many embroidery stitches. So it fills my challenge for art group. I still have to make pages. Number 51.
Wheels, number 50. Just finished. What color should I grout??
A mosaiced violin, a fund raiser for Saline Fiddlers. Should I grout it? Number 49

This week, I had three grandkids for 2 days. Then I went to an artist's group meeting, the Baguettes. And today, I'm going to a birthday party. Can I help it if I know how to have fun? Of course the Olympics are taking up my evenings too.

Okay, I admit I goofed off all day for 2 days. I read 2 Dexter books. But my cold is better, so I plan to do something useful soon.
