Hard at work all day, on a Maui Chicken quilt. This will take several days more to finish. It's a center piece for my upcoming solo show at 212 Arts in February. The reception is Feb. 18, 7 to 9 p.m. It will be the Grand Opening of the New 212 Arts! 23 steps west of the current building.

My good friend Babe made 2 of these stacked felt squares ornaments for me, and then let me make 3 more! Isn't it cute? A good way to use small scraps of felted sweaters. 330-332.
Gaines Collins came up with a terrific way to use printed squares fabric, for wrapping gifts. She sewed 3 sides by machine, then hand stitched the last side, after filling. The long red thread pulls off to open. Now I have a use for the 12 Days of Christmas fabric I've been keeping.
Holly Kreag and Nancy Miller participated in the Cafe Challenge, to make art based on a take out cup. Holly made a luscious cup of Java, and Nancy made a delicious Mocha Chocolate lip balm. You already saw my entry. Aren't these nice people creative?

212 ARTS CENTER HOLIDAY SALE KICKS OFF WITH A "FLURRY" OF ACTIVITY
The 212 Arts Center Holiday Sale kicked off with a party last Friday night, but the fun continues this week, until 6pm December 18. You can still get a wonderful piece of art "made in Michigan" for those special people on your gift list. (Even if that person is you!) You can choose from an excellent array of pottery pieces (really cool sea salt shakers!) re-purposed wool mittens, body scrubs, soaps and other wholesome body products, ornaments, jewelry, fiber arts, cards, paintings, and a perennial favorite - chocolate covered toffee!
Stop by the Arts Center Monday - Saturday 10 - 6, where our friendly staff will help you find just the thing. You may just meet a few artists while you're there!

This is my coffee shop challenge piece. Cakeeaters on Friday met at My Favorite Cafe. The to-go cup has this cool design, so I asked friends if they wanted to make art based on it. Mine is about 12" by 14", applique and machine quilted. Fun, took about an hour. Number 325.
This quilt says, "I dream people grow on trees, like angels dangling from heaven". First I drew the picture with a fabric pen. I painted it with watercolors on muslin. Then I added acrylic iridescent white sparkles, and glitter glue.
The circle is also painted, with fabric paint, and appliqued onto the picture. Then it's all hand stitched and embellished with sequins. It was made for the class Art Quilt by Layers, a mixed media class. Number 324.

Artists from Washtenaw County, who participated in Art in the House exhibit at the Michigan State Capitol building, were invited to a reception with Pam Byrnes, our Representative. Some of the details inside the Michigan State Capitol include beautiful hinges on the Chamber door, and carved wood sides on the stairways.
These are the artists from 212 Arts whose work is hanging in the Michigan State Capitol, Kat Campau, Keith McGuire, Holly Kreag, Kay Cassil, Jean Canavan.
