There are 18 pillows with faces, so the count is 334. They are Naughty or Nice pillows. They say "Naughty...I intend to stay this way", and "Naughty is my best behavior," as well as 16 more things. They are all different, hand drawn, and painted.

These mostly naughty ladies will be little pillows, after they dry. This was a lot of fun.

Four larger pieces, 22" by 36". These were dyed with the leftover dye, poured near the edges of the containers. I got a little enthusiastic, and kept pouring until it was all gone. 258.

This is what we did in class last night, 30 step gradation dyeing. The pieces are about 9" by 20". I scrunched the fabric, other people tied with twine or rubber bands. I am eager to see how those look. Mine are quite cool. Do these look like fish to you? Or flowers? Number 257.

Today I dyed fabric, with 5 people. I expect to show you some tomorrow. It was fun to do, but will be more fun when we see the finished fabric. I have a 30 step gradation, which goes all around the color wheel. And I have a bunch of bits I poured all the leftover dye onto, including the wiping rags. Too bad I had a couple holes in my gloves, and am decorated.

This is a piece of papercloth I made last night. Today, I added a lot of silk and netting, (and a potato bag, and metallic grid fabric), and quilted it, number 254.

We had a marblizing fabric class tonight. I made a few test pieces, will show you tomorrow. It was fun. You should see the students' pieces.

These are the fabrics I dyed today. I found that the end of the bolt, where it said 100% cotton, was wrong. The warp threads must be a synthetic, because they did not take dye. You can see the weave. So, when I do this for class, I will use a different fabric, that I am certain is all cotton. But these look good anyway, don't they? I'm sure I'll use them. Number 235.

This day started with a class at 212, to make a ceramic cornucopia. It's too bad I didn't take my camera. I'll show you next time. When I got home, I made a set of 30 step gradation dyed fabrics, as samples for a class. Now they are in cups, waiting to be washed out. I'll do that in the morning, and show you the results. This was way fun! I've done it many times before, but I get a rush each time. The bold colors look delicious. I'll bring my samples to CakeEaters this week. (That's a business meeting at 212.)

Today I ordered all the stuff for Marbling on Fabric, and Gradation Dyeing, both classes I will be teaching. And I did a quick sample of using shaving cream as a base for marbling on. It does not work nearly as well as Methyl Cel. This is the best piece I got. The shaving cream dilutes the paint too much. So, we are using the other method. It takes more time to prepare, but you get so much better results. Just wait and see. Number 234.

No pictures today, but I did work. I made 4 pages for a fabric book. I intend to put pictures of family members in costumes, in the book. My grandfather had a picture of himself taken, wearing a cowboy outfit. It is so charming, I want to share it. It was taken before 1917, when he got married. It may take a few days to locate the other pictures I want to include, and get a new color cartridge for my printer. But I'll post it asap.

It may not look like it took 2 days to make these cards, but it did. My daughter Karen did long distance editing for me, and a computer tutorial.

The fish cards.

I guess I can count this as 1 item made. I did make all the quilts, and count them. But it took 2 days to make 12 card designs, so this will be number 189.

A bag for a knitter, number 153. On the front is a resist painting, stitched very closely by hand. It's a pocket for a pattern book. The bag has a flat bottom, so it will stand when full of yarn.

On the back are pockets for stitch holders, and row markers.

Inside there are needle pockets, and a scissors pocket, and one for keys.

The face with a colorwash background. I did try to keep it one color. But I have all these paints...

Step 3: The face, gessoed. I ran out of gesso, and sealed the rest with gel medium.

Next step is a colorwash background. Then I'll do a transfer with water soluble oil pastels. Then maybe some collaging.

This is step 2, layered and machine quilted. It isn't the best picture, but it shows the quilting best. I want a lot of texture. I guess I have to think about this for a while, I don't know how to start the painting. Maybe just smear on gesso? I am on number 247 still.
